Letrozole

Letrozole is a powerful aromatase inhibitor that was developed to fight breast cancer. For athletes and bodybuilders, it is a drug used to combat the estrogenic side effects of anabolic steroids including water-retention, acne and gynocomastia. It will also effectively raise testosterone levels by systemically lowering estrogen in the body.

Femara is the second in a new class of third-generation selective oral aromatase inhibitors. It acts by blocking the production of estrogen. Unlike SERMs including Nalvadex and Clomid that block the action of estrogen in certain tissues, Femara reduces the production of estrogen. The effects of Femara can be quite dramatic to say the least. A daily dose of one tablet (2.5 mg) can result in estrogen suppression in excess of 80%.  Side effects from Letrozole include a lowered sex drive, an impaired immune system and continuous use has been associated with adverse effects on lipid profiles in some studies.

For the steroid using male athlete, Femara shows great potential. Up to this point, drugs like Nolvadex and Proviron have been our weapons against excess estrogen. These drugs, especially in combination, do prove quite effective. But Femara appears able to do the job much more efficiently, and with less hassle. Its use is only now catching on, but early reports have been excellent. Some even report excellent results with only 1/4 tablet daily. When used with strong, readily aromatizing androgens such as Dianabol or testosterone, gynecomastia and water retention can be effectively prevented. Theoretically this may provide the possibility of allowing a strong androgen like testosterone to provide incredible muscular growth, while at the same time being as tolerable as nandrolone.
